Get Urgent Help

Everyturn Mental Health has been appointed by South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) to deliver a new 24/7 mental health crisis text based service.

The new service will play an important part in strengthening crisis support across South London, helping more people access compassionate, inclusive mental health support, when and where they need it most.

Delivered through a secure WhatsApp platform, the service will be delivered by trained mental health advisors, many of whom have their own experience of mental ill-health, who will offer non-clinical support.

The team behind the support service will also signpost anyone that needs support with finances, housing, relationships, employment, or other practical issues, by linking people with other partners and organisations. If someone needs urgent or emergency support, the team will work closely with SLaM’s NHS crisis teams to make sure they are supported quickly and safely.

Everyturn brings 40 years’ experience offering mental health services and the charity is a leading provider of crisis services, including crisis lines, crisis houses, community-based Safe Havens and NHS 111-2 telephone services. This new crisis text line is the second support service we’re launching this year with SLaM NHS Trust, alongside the new community rehabilitation service, which will launch in summer this year.

Adam Crampsie, Everyturn’s Chief Executive, commented:

“We know that, for many people, talking about mental health isn’t easy and it can be a real barrier to people accessing support.

“Text-based crisis support services can make it easier for people to reach out in a way that feels safe and manageable. Our team will be there to provide calm, compassionate support where and when people need it most.

“We’re proud to be working in partnership with South London and Maudsley NHS Trust again, alongside mobilising our specialist residential service. This service will build on our experience of delivering high-quality crisis care that supports people to stay safe, reduces pressure on NHS and system partners and connects people with ongoing help in their community.

“Our focus is simple: to be there, to listen, and to help people through some of the most difficult moments in their lives so that no one struggles alone.”
