Who we're here to support
At Streetwise, we’re here to support anyone struggling with their mental health aged between 11-25 and living in Newcastle upon Tyne.
How we help
Sometimes, things can feel tough.
Counselling can help you work through anything that might be difficult for you, whether you’re feeling worried, dealing with difficult problems, struggling with your thoughts and emotions, or have been through some tough life experiences.
In your counselling sessions, you’ll be able to chat about how you’re feeling in a safe and confidential space with a trained counsellor.
They’ll be able to help you to understand your emotions, circumstances, and thoughts, and they’ll support you to find ways to manage these better.
Your counsellor will listen, accept and respect what you share. They won’t judge you or patronise you, and they’ll not tell you what to do. They’ll support you through your counselling journey so that you feel able to make the decisions and choices that feel right for you.
Is it confidential?
Counselling is confidential, we’ll only share information with your consent, or if we need to help keep you safe.
What if me and my counsellor aren’t a good match?
Counselling sessions usually last 50 minutes, and will usually happen on the same day and time each week. You’ll see the same counsellor on a regular basis for at least six weeks. A few more sessions might be discussed if needed. If you feel like you and your counsellor aren’t a good match, you can ask for a different counsellor.
