LGBT+ History Month with our LGBTQIA+ colleague support network

At Everyturn, we have a number of colleague-led support networks, where colleagues are able to share their experiences, build a support network, and identify areas which we can improve on as an organisation.

This year, the theme of LGBT+ History Month is ‘Medicine – #UnderTheScope.

‘The 2024 theme celebrates LGBT+ peoples’ contribution to the field of medicine and healthcare both historically and today.’ – LGBT+ History Month.

Our LGBTQIA+ colleague support network have been working together to raise awareness, share information, and highlight resources throughout the month to celebrate this year’s theme. Most recently, the network have shared a number of spotlights on LGBTQIA+ figures in medicine!

Let’s talk to Jamille (He/Him), Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner here at Everyturn. Jamille chairs our LGBTQIA+ Support Network!

Jamille began chairing the group in early 2023, and since then has helped create a welcoming, informative and supportive environment for everyone involved.

“I began chairing the group in February in 2023 and we have focused predominantly on Pride History Month and LGBTQ Pride month.”

“Our members have been contributing to Everyturn social media by writing blog posts and participating in the  ‘It’s all Mental’ podcast. We have some ongoing larger projects around altering pronoun inputting/gathering and improving access to gender neutral toilets.”

This LGBT+ History Month, we encourage people to take the time to learn about the contributions of LGBT+ people in the field of medicine and healthcare, and to listen to the voices and experiences of people in LGBTQIA+ communities.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to Jamille for taking the time to speak to us, and a huge thank you to our LGBTQIA+ support network!
