Get Urgent Help

Today is World Patient Safety Day 2025, and this year’s campaign is focusing on ‘Patient safety from the start!’.

This emphasises the right each child has to quality care, the need for safe care for every newborn and child, and the importance on acting early and consistently.

At Everyturn, we provide mental health support from ages 11 onwards, and we know that many of the adults we support are also parents, carers, and family members. Protecting children means safeguarding them when their caregivers are unwell. As an organisation that has person-centred care at the heart of what we do, we also know the importance of care that fits the person and their needs, and this includes children and young people.

Streetwise, a North East based award winning charity providing support to children and young people, now merged with Everyturn, ensures that support doesn’t stop at age 9. Together, we provide a safety net for families – from the youngest children to teenagers navigating their own mental health, to young adults.

Mandy Coppin, Head of Children and Young People’s Services at Everyturn said:

“We are stronger together, working in partnership with our children, young people and caregivers to help identify, prevent and respond to unmet needs in a safe and respectful way, that listens deeply, helps everyone to feel heard, and understands and acknowledges what needs to be done next. We are so proud and honoured to be able to reach out and support children and young people and make a difference in their lives”.

On this World Patient Safety Day and beyond, we commit to:

  • Strengthening safeguarding practices in adult services.
  • Supporting young people’s mental health through our partnership.
  • Promoting a “Think Family” approach in everything we do.
  • An understanding that when we keep families safe, we keep children safe.
