Everyturn has been apppointed by South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust to provide a new specialist residential service, launching in spring 2026, to enable people with complex needs to live independent lives in the community.
The service will be based near Bethlem Royal Hospital. It will be clinically led and offer up to three years of person-centred rehabilitation, with our multidisciplinary clinical team working across agencies and local partners in London to give each person the right level of support.
People will transfer to our service from SLaM’s mental health inpatient services, including locked rehabilitation and forensic wards. We know from experience that these transitions are challenging. Our team will work with people and their support team for 6-8 weeks before their move, to build relationships and work together on a plan to meet the person’s needs and help the transition go smoothly. This is something we have lots of experience in; we’ve successfully enabled 42 independent hospital step-downs in 11 months using this approach in our existing rehabilitation services in the North East.
This will be a service by Londoners, for Londoners. We’ll create a new team in south London to launch and deliver this service, including an operations and partnerships director, service manager, staff nurses, nurse support practitioners, support workers, and peer support workers. We’ll be advertising these new roles over the coming months.
Together, our team will deliver highly skilled, trauma-informed care, aligned with the Royal College of Psychiatry standards for community mental health rehabilitation. We’ll work with trusted local voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSEs); housing providers; and other partners to ensure we’re helping people lead independent lives in the community.
Adam Crampsie, Everyturn’s Chief Executive, said:
“This will be Everyturn’s first service in London, enabled by our legacy and experience of providing services like these over many years. We’re proud to be an NHS provider, a national mental health charity, and an organisation rooted in communities. Our strongly held values and spirit of innovation have always led us to pioneer new models of life-changing care.
“Working with complexity and managing risk is what we’ve always done at Everyturn. Our team in south London will create person-centred support plans to develop and grow daily living skills, manage risk, and increase independence. Our goal is always to give people the support they need to live a satisfying life – whatever that looks like for each person.
“We’ve been an NHS partner for nearly 40 years, so we understand the challenges and pressures it’s facing. Our service in south London will enable people to live in the community, prevent unnecessary hospital readmission, and release capacity for South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
“We’re proud to bring our experience to south London, and we’re excited to put down roots in the community: to listen, to learn, and to build a service that changes the lives of the people we’re here to support.”
