After the success of last year’s Great North Run, we were delighted to be awarded more places for 2019!

Yesterday, our Marketing and Fundraising Team headed down to South Shields, ready to greet our seven runners as they cross the finish line. Armed with snacks, we eagerly awaited the return of our first runner.

Darren Tate from Moving On Tyne & Wear (our service supporting people in Tyne and Wear who are out of work due to a mental and/or physical health issues) was first over the finish line. Darren finished the 13.1 miles in an incredible time of 1 hour and 54 minutes! Hayley, Shailey, Vicky, Beth, Christine and Jodie weren’t far behind, and we really enjoyed being there to welcome them all back.

Altogether, the team raised over £2,500 for our Extra Mile Fund; the fund allows us to facilitate creative and meaningful activities with the people we support. A huge thank you to all our runners, we couldn’t be more grateful.

We’re already planning for next year’s run, which we’re hoping will be our biggest and best Great North Run yet!
