We’re proud to announce our new, 10-year strategy: Hope for the Future.
At Everyturn Mental Health, we’ve spent the last 40 years supporting people to live more fulfilled, happier and healthier lives by making sure no one has to struggle alone.
Now, we’re looking ahead with the launch of our new 10-year strategy, Hope for the Future.
Our vision
A future where no one struggles alone, because getting the right support is simple, fair and makes you feel understood.
Today, the mental health system isn’t easy to find your way around. We want people to have access to compassionate support, early, with no one being left behind.
In 2036, that will mean people’s lives have changed because the right support is available to them, when they need it:
- A teenager who feels on the outside has found (real-life) people he can talk to.
- An auntie is surprised to find that counselling isn’t what she thought it would be.
- A seaside town whose residents have felt for years that they’ve been left behind, finally has a network of support they can turn to, whatever they’re facing.
Shaping our strategy
Hope for the Future is built on what we’ve learned over four decades. It’s shaped by what matters most to:
The people we support and their families
- Our colleagues
- NHS and local authority commissioners and partners
- Our board of trustees
- Community organisations and voluntary sector colleagues
- National mental health policy and practice leaders
What they told us shaped every part of our strategy. We all have a part to play in making it happen, using our skills, creativity, and determination.
Why now?
2026 is Everyturn’s 40th anniversary. Developing our new strategy has been a time to celebrate our impact and look forward to the future. A lot has changed since we launched our last strategy, Shaping our Future, in 2021. Back then, we were focused on joining up our services across the communities we serve, reaching more people, improving the outcomes they experience, delivering social value and reducing our environmental impact.
Since then, we have:
- Changed our name to Everyturn, joining up our charity and how we work
- Expanded our services to help people across England with more needs, including people in crisis and children and young people
- Transformed the way we work, including investments in new technologies and estates
As we look ahead, we know the world around us is changing in ways we can predict, and in other ways we can’t. More people are speaking openly about their wellbeing and seeking support, the future of healthcare will be closer to home, and new possibilities for support are being created by new technologies.
But, alongside this, many people still find their lives becoming more difficult, and health systems are under strain. The gap between demand and support is growing, and social, economic, environmental and political change means our strategy needs to be robust, but flexible enough to adapt.
With all of this in mind, our ambitions haven’t changed. We know we need to be more agile, innovative, and focused on the people who are least likely to get help. In 2036, Everyturn will turn 50. The approach we’ve set out in this strategy means that we’ll have created support that reaches people earlier, reduces health inequalities, strengthens partnerships and adapts to changing needs.
Our goals
Over the next 10 years, we’ll work towards seven strategic goals. They’ll guide where we focus the greatest energy and investment, acting as our vehicle for changing the lives of the people we support.
Take a look at our goals and why they matter:
1. Provide excellent support
Whether people need early support to stay well, help through a difficult time, or specialist care in a crisis, they deserve services they can rely on.
2. Reduce inequality
In 2026, the people who most need support are still least likely to get it, disadvantaged by where they live, their income, or the discrimination they face.
3. Help our people thrive
To meet our ambitions, we need to be an organisation that’s inclusive, values-led, and full of skilled, passionate people who share our vision.
4. Grow our income and impact
Everyturn can only make lasting change if it has the income to be sustainable. Commissioned services will stay at our core, but a broader funding mix gives us flexibility to do things differently, respond to what our communities need, and support people who fall through gaps between services.
5. Become a hub of innovation
People’s needs are changing and the healthcare system doesn’t always keep up. When we find better ways to support people, learn what works, and share that learning, more people benefit.
6. Campaign for a better system
As a trusted organisation with deep expertise, Everyturn can influence how mental health support is designed and delivered.
7. Adapt to changing needs
We need systems that help us stay flexible, make good decisions, and adapt as the world changes.
But this isn’t something we can achieve alone. Success will depend on strong partnerships, collaboration and listening to the people and communities we serve.
What’s next?
This is the future we’re building together, and our strategy is an invitation:
- To our colleagues: to bring your expertise, care and ideas.
- To our partners: to work alongside us in pursuit of something better.
- To the people we support: to shape our work and hold us to account.
We can work together to build a mental health system where compassion comes before complexity, support arrives sooner and people aren’t left to struggle alone.
We’ll share our progress, and we’ll be transparent about what’s working, what’s not, and what we’re learning along the way.
Together, we’re creating hope for the future.
