What is Youth Voice?

At Children and Young People Services at Everyturn, we follow the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

This means we believe your voice matters. We make sure you can share your ideas and are involved when decisions are made, especially when those decisions affect you.

Children and young people are important members of society, with their own rights. Everyone should respect those rights and support you to understand them, speak up, and stand up for yourself. You have the right to things like a good education, access to healthcare, a safe and comfortable life, time to play, and protection from harm, neglect, or exploitation.

Every young person should be able to access support that is high quality, that meets your needs, challenges inequalities and recognises diversity, respects who you are and helps you grow into healthy, resilient adults.

How does Youth Voice work at Everyturn?

At Everyturn, we’re here to provide you with a safe space and strong leadership to talk about ideas and issues you might be experiencing, thta make sure your rights and participation is at the heart of how we design our Children and Young People Services, and how we deliver them.

This is how we work with you:

  • We ask for your views when we’re designing and improving services for children and young people.
  • We work with you to understand your thoughts on current issues, and what’s important to you now and in the future.
  • We invite young people to help plan, run and organise events and activities.
  • We make sure we hear from young people that don’t always get the chance to speak up and be heard.
  • We work with you to involve you in shaping our future plans and strategy.
  • We make sure we listen to a wide range of voices, so everyone is represented.
  • We prioritise time and resources into young people’s participation.
  • We think about access, including digital tools to reach more people.
  • We share what we learn from young people to help improve services and create positive change.
