Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) is a very common type of anxiety that can affect your daily life.

Many people feel anxious in different situations, such as before exams, interviews, or health checks. Although this can feel uncomfortable, it is normal.

GAD is different, as it can make you worry about lots of different things. You might find it difficult to manage your worrying, or find that you are worrying on more days than not.

You may feel more anxious or worry about what might happen in situations that are unpredictable, uncertain, or out of your control.

Generalised anxiety is more than the thoughts running through your mind. Common physical symptoms of anxiety include:

  • Faster heart rate.
  • Feeling restless, on-edge, or irritable.
  • Muscle tension.

You might find yourself checking things many times to make sure they’re correct, putting things off until the last minute, or avoiding certain things.

Symptoms can include:

  • Worrying on more days than not.
  • Worrying about lots of different things.
  • Finding it hard to control your worrying.
  • Physical symptoms, such as feeling on-edge or irritable, muscle tension, or finding it hard to concentrate.
  • Having sleep problems.

At Everyturn Mental Health, we provide evidence-based therapy, such as CBT, to support you with your general anxiety disorder.
